Perfectly adapted to the harsh Saharan climate, the dromedary has served for centuries as an essential mode of transport, a vital source of milk and meat, and a cornerstone of nomadic pastoral life across the Mauritanian desert. Issued in 1966 as part of a definitive/commemorative fauna series by the Islamic Republic of Mauritania (REPUBLIQUE ISLAMIQUE DE MAURITANIE / الجمهورية الإسلامية الموريتانية), this 50F postage stamp (POSTES) highlights the Dromedary Camel.
